The largest city in the U.S. advertising agency, from Dan Staley and Rob Long, in association with Paramount Network Television. THE CUBE, created and written by Dan Staley and Rob Long, former co-executive producers of the Emmy Award- winning series "Cheers," will begin production in early November.
Set in a mid-town Manhattan advertising agency, the series chronicles the professional and personal lives of a creative team and their bosses. With diverse, yet compatible personalities the ensemble cast of characters includes: Will, a warm-hearted, but career- conflicted art director; Liz, a young and savvy copywriter, Dale, an awkward, out-of-place junior art director, Jody, a spaced-out junior copywriter, Ron, a cut-throat account executive; Zoe, a conniving, yet vulnerable newly appointed creative director; Jack, a gruff veteran senior copywriter; and Jimmy, a silent, but terror inducing president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Staley and Long met at Yale University, where they co-wrote, co- directed and co-produced stage comedies. Immediately after college graduation, Staley worked in advertising. He began as a copywriter for J. Walter Thompson and from there he moved to rival firm David Deutsch and Associates, where he won several industry awards, including the prestigious CLIO honor and the ONE SHOW Gold and Silver Awards for a print campaign he created for Conde Nast Traveler magazine. Long spent his time at a teaching fellowship at his highschool alma mater, Phillips Academy in Boston. During this time he taught English and theater, while serving as a dorm counselor.
In 1989, Staley and Long decided to pursue a writing career. They were hired as staff writers on "Cheers" in 1990 and were moved up to story editors. They were named co-producers in 1991 and then co- executive producers in 1992, the 11th and final season of "Cheers." At the close of the long-running series, Dan and Rob signed an overall development deal with Paramount Network Television. In 1993 they served as co-executive producers of the CBS series "Big Wave Dave" starring Adam Arkin. In 1994, they created "Pig Sty," which received critical reviews during its run on UPN UPN User Principal Name (Microsoft Windows 2000)
