PARAMOUNT'S 'MACGYVER' COMPLETES PRODUCTION IN LONDON ON FIRST OF TWO TELEFILMS

HOLLYWOOD, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- "MacGYVER," the popular action adventure series which ran successfully for seven years on ABC, and which stars Richard Dean Anderson, has recently completed principal photography in England on the first of two telefilms for the 1993-94 season. The telefilms are produced by Gekko Film Corp. in association with Henry Winkler/John Rich Productions and Paramount Network Television.
The first "MacGYVER" telefilm, "Trail to Doomsday," directed by Charles Correll and written by John Considine, begins as MacGyver arrives in London to celebrate the 40th birthday of his old friend and skiing buddy, Paul Moran (guest star Nicholas Farrell). The trip suddenly turns tragic when Moran is murdered and his only daughter Elise is kidnapped. To find the killer, MacGyver goes undercover into the shadowy world of international terrorism, only to be framed for murder. Fleeing Scotland Yard's finest, MacGyver untangles a shocking conspiracy with potentially devastating global impact.
In addition to Anderson, the "Trail to Doomsday" cast includes: Paul Moran (Farrell); Frederick Moran (Peter Egan), as the distraught brother of Paul; Elise Moran (Lena Headey), Paul Moran's only daughter and assistant in his research; Natalia Krimm (Beatie Edney), as a seductive ex-KGB operative who devotes herself to helping MacGyver in his search for the killer; Inspector Henry Capshaw (Alun Armstrong), the Scotland Yard detective hot on MacGyver's trail; Tony Graves (Bob Sherman), a former CIA agent who's working alongside MacGyver and Natalia Krimm; Joseph (Jack Ellis), leader of the terrorist organization hired to kill Paul Moran; and Nikolai (Robert Gwilym), Natalia Krimm's KGB contact.
Filming of the second "MacGYVER" telefilm, "The Lost Treasure of Atlantis," will begin at the end of April. In this movie written by John Sheppard and directed by Michael Vejar, MacGyver responds to an urgent summons from his old professor and mentor, a brilliant, eccentric archaeological explorer, and is plunged into a perilous hunt for the mythical Treasure of Atlantis. Pursued by a murderous artifact thief, MacGyver, the Professor and Elise Moran race across Europe following ancient clues that lead to an explosive discovery in the crater of an active volcano in the Greek Isles.
The "MacGYVER" movies are produced by Gekko Film Corp. in association with Henry Winkler/John Rich Productions and Paramount Network Television. The telefilms are produced by Michael Greenburg. Executive producers are Richard Dean Anderson, Henry Winkler and John Rich.
