PARADE TO HONOR VIETNAM SERVICE.

LANCASTER -- About 2,000 veterans are expected to march and ride down Lancaster Boulevard on Saturday in a Veterans Day parade to honor those who served in Vietnam.

A Vietnam-era Huey helicopter and an Air Force F-117 stealth fighter will fly overhead as bands, motorcycle clubs This is a list of articles of motorcycle-related clubs.

``We think it's historic,'' Ingrid Chapman said.

The Antelope Valley Operation Welcome Home parade is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Saturday and to run along Lancaster Boulevard from 10th Street West to Sierra Highway. Spectators will be handed small American flags to wave.

 will lead the parade, followed by veterans from other wars and eras. Honored guests will be 20 Navajo veterans, including four who served as code talkers and used their native language as a secret code for radio transmissions. One of the 20 served in the Korean War Korean War, conflict between Communist and non-Communist forces in Korea from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. At the end of World War II, Korea was divided at the 38th parallel into Soviet (North Korean) and U.S. (South Korean) zones of occupation.  and the others in the Vietnam War Vietnam War, conflict in Southeast Asia, primarily fought in South Vietnam between government forces aided by the United States and guerrilla forces aided by North Vietnam. .

Plans for the local parade were inspired by the national Welcome Home parade last Veterans Day in Las Vegas. Gary Chapman and Santana walked in that parade for U.S. soldiers, Marines, sailors and airmen who came home from Vietnam more than 30 years ago to hostility or indifference.

The Antelope Valley parade is also intended to thank other veterans, organizers said.

A ceremony at 11a.m. will be held at Boeing Plaza. There will be entertainment until 2p.m.

A barbecue lunch will be hosted at Grace Resource Center, at 45134 Sierra Highway. The meal will be free for all veterans, $5 for others.
