PARADE ENTRIES TO LIGHT REGION.

PALMDALE - More than 100 parade entries all decked in Christmas lights will roll down 5th Street West on Saturday for Palmdale's light parade.

The 2001 Winter Odyssey Holiday Light Parade will feature illuminated floats, marching groups wearing battery-powered lights and other colorful and well-lit entries.

In observance of the 60th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor Pearl Harbor, land-locked harbor, on the southern coast of Oahu island, Hawaii, W of Honolulu; one of the largest and best natural harbors in the E Pacific Ocean. In the vicinity are many U.S. military installations, including the chief U.S. , there will be nine local Pearl Harbor survivors serving as grand marshals Grand Marshal is a ceremonial, military, or political office of very high rank. The term has its origins with the word "Marshal" with the first usage of the term "Grand Marshal" as a ceremonial title for certain religious orders.  for the parade.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. at East Avenue Q and 5th Street West. It will proceed north on 5th Street West and end at Technology Drive.

The new route is a quarter-mile shorter than the previous one and offers some advantages. This year there will be a special VIP bleacher bleach·er
