PAR Technology Subsidiary Awarded $1.8 Million Air Force Engineering Contract.
ROME, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 2002
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Surveillance Radar Technology (SNRD) branch announced the awarding of a $1.8 million contract to Rome Research Corporation (RRC), a subsidiary of PAR Technology Corporation (NYSE:PTC).
The contract requires RRC to provide various research and development efforts focusing upon improved radar testbeds for current and future Air Force systems. Other Department of Defense systems may benefit from this work as well. The contract period of performance is three years.
"A critical aspect of any research and development function is the ability to test, measure and validate a concept in a timely and cost-effective manner," commented Al Lane, RRC President. "Government laboratories continue to face budget constraints, mandating the adoption of creative methods to reduce the time and cost associated with technological proof of principles and application of novel concepts. The radar testbeds developed under this contract will provide needed leverage during the development cycle."
Under the contract, RRC will develop radar testbeds that will enhance the effectiveness and reduce cost of research and testing related to emerging radar sensors, particularly in the areas of foliage penetration, ground penetration and airborne bistatic radar configurations. These efforts will provide thorough and timely testing of improvements, cost reductions, early detection of problems and prevention of cost increases caused by the need for subsequent problem corrections.
