PAR Technology Subsidiary Announces New $6.0 Million U.S. Navy I/T Contract Award at LaMoure, North Dakota.

Rome Research Corporation (RRC), a subsidiary of PAR Technology Corporation (NYSE:PTC), was awarded a $6.0 million contract to provide information technology support services at the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Detachment LaMoure, North Dakota. The contract includes the operation and maintenance of the Very Low Frequency (VLF) transmitter facility at LaMoure and has a performance period of five years.

The NCTAMS LANT DET LaMoure, North Dakota facility is a VLF transmitter facility in support of the Commanding Officer, NCTAMS LANT that provides a component of the shore Fixed Submarine Broadcast System (FSBS). The VLF transmitter is a prototype solid state amplifier developed under the Solid State Power Amplifier Replacement (SSPAR) program. The LaMoure station serves as a versatile swing site for broadcast operations. NCTAMS LANT DET LaMoure functions as an operational site, to mitigate downtime at other transmitter facilities in either the Atlantic or Pacific areas of responsibilities.

VLF technology, the radio spectrum between 3 kHz and 30 kHz, has been used for naval submarine communications since the 1950's. The VLF system is the most reliable form of long distance and underwater communications ever developed, even under the most adverse conditions. The VLF signals can penetrate solid rock and the ocean surface, both of which block radio waves at higher frequencies.
