PANHANDLE EASTERN PIPE LINE COMPANY RECEIVES FERC RESPONSE TO ORDER 636 COMPLIANCE FILING

HOUSTON, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued an order relating to Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company's (PEPL) compliance filing under Order 636.
Issued by FERC in April, Order 636 requires interstate natural gas pipelines to unbundle their traditional sales service from transportation and storage services, which must be offered separately.
Paul M. Anderson, president of PEPL, said this order is the first step in implementing PEPL's compliance with Order 636, and he credited FERC for its prompt action on the filing.
"We are pleased to be one of the first pipeline companies to receive an order on a compliance filing," Anderson said. "While we are still analyzing the details of this lengthy order, we are encouraged by the commission's treatment of many of the proposals. We will continue working with FERC and our customers to implement the order by April 1."
Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company is a subsidiary of Panhandle Eastern Corporation (NYSE: PEL), which operates one of the nation's largest interstate natural gas pipeline systems, providing natural gas to the Midwest and Northeast markets.
