PALMDALE WOMAN KILLED, TEEN HURT IN DRIVE-BY.Byline: Charles F. Bostwick Staff Writer LAKE VIEW TERRACE - A young Palmdale woman was killed and a Lancaster teen-ager wounded in a Easter Sunday drive-by shooting that may be gang-related, police said Monday. Dawn Michelle Fick, 21, was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at a local hospital, officials said. An unidentified 15-year-old Lancaster girl was reported in stable condition with gunshot wounds to the lower extremities. They were standing with a group of people in front of a house when a midsize van pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said. ``The suspect fired numerous shots at the group,'' Los Angeles Police Capt. Chris Pitcher said. Before the shooting started, someone in the van asked the group where they were from - a common street-gang challenge, officials said. The shooting happened just after 7 p.m. Sunday in front of a house in the 11700 block of Vanport Avenue, police said. The only description of the assailants' vehicle was that it was a dark- colored van. Detectives were trying to get a description of the assailants, as well. Authorities asked any witnesses to call detectives at (818) 834-3115. |
