He has been out for several months on sick leave. ``He is such a great person and has done so many great things,'' Smith said. ``Hopefully he will conquer this.'' Strasburg is married and has a grown son and daughter. He donated his collection of old newspapers, more than 200 maps, 250 to 300 books and more than 150 photographs to the city library last year.
