PALMDALE'S FALL FESTIVAL TO BE BIGGER THAN EVER.

PALMDALE - Palmdale's 20th annual Fall Festival will have a new location at Marie Kerr Park and more entertainment, including a fireworks fireworks: see pyrotechnics.

Headlining the Oct. 8-9 festival will be the Southern rock band .38 Special, followed by a stage show called ``Illumination,'' featuring lighting effects, costumed dancers and wild props, and the fireworks show, all on the festival's first night.

``For family entertainment, no one matches us,'' said Steve Buffalo, the city's special events manager. ``We've thrown everything into it - including the kitchen sink.''

More than 45,000 people are expected to attend the event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 8 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 9 at the newly enlarged Marie Kerr Park, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd.

The Antelope Valley

The event is moving from McAdam Park to Marie Kerr Park because the festival needs more room, city officials said. The festival had about 14 acres at McAdam for the event plus about an additional 13.5 acres for parking. At Marie Kerr, the festival will have 24 acres plus the new amphitheater and up to 40 acres of parking.

``This event is begging for growth,'' said Mayor Jim Ledford. ``McAdam was maxed out.''

Singers, bands, dancers and other entertainers will perform on 11 stages. Other acts slated to perform include The Beach Toys, Mariachi Divas, Nuns for Fun, Boulevard Knights, Alturas, Kids of Rock Theatre, LA Salsa Kids, Flying Lindy lin·dy or Lin·dy

Admission is $7 for adults, and $3 for seniors 55 and over, children ages 6 to 12 and military with ID. Children will receive four free ride tickets with gate admission. Children age 5 and under will be admitted free.

A two-day adult pass is available for $12. Parking is free.
