P + 5E + 3H = :-). (Short Take/Psychology).

If you haven't figured out the secret of happiness, don't worry--scientists may have done it for you. And the secret may be a mathematical formula! "This is the first equation of its kind that enables people to put a figure on their emotional state," says British psychologist Carol Rothwell, who led the study in England. So what does the equation mean?

P stands for Personal Characteristics--your outlook on life and ability to adapt to new and unfamiliar situations. E stands for Existence--your health, friendships, and finances. H covers Higher-Order Needs--from your self-esteem to your sense of humor Noun 1. sense of humor - the trait of appreciating (and being able to express) the humorous; "she didn't appreciate my humor"; "you can't survive in the army without a sense of humor"
sense of humour, humor, humour
.

To work out the formula, psychologists asked more than 1,000 people to answer four questions (see quiz A quiz is a form of game or mind sport in which the players (as individuals or in teams) attempt to answer questions correctly. Quizzes are also brief assessments used in education and similar fields to measure growth in knowledge, abilities, and/or skills. , below) on a scale of 1 to 10, in which 1 is "not at all" and 10 is "to a large extent."
