Owner Satisfaction Custom For Little Rock Builder

The Roy D. Rainey & Co. has built more than 2,000 homes, mostly in Pulaski County, since the company was founded in 1965. About 75 percent of those were custom built, and that's the way Roy Rainey Sr., owner of the firm, likes it.

"I really enjoy the variety of each house," he says. "It is a unique experience. We start from a blank piece of paper."

Rainey builds houses that sell for about $125,000 to $150,000 and currently is building a log home in Ferndale.

"That's a completely new ball game," he says. While initial construction costs are higher, he says the homeowners should realize reduced utility costs.

Roy Rainey Sr. is a past president of the Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock and was vice president of the national organization twice.
