Owner of Hard Rock Cafe jump starts green bandwagon.

Owner of Hard Rock Cafe Hard Rock Cafe is a chain of casual dining restaurants. It was founded in 1971 by Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton, and their first Hard Rock Cafe opened near Hyde Park Corner in London, in a former Rolls Royce car dealerships showroom close to Hyde Park, where in 1979 they began to  jump starts green bandwagon

WEST HOLLYWOOD -- It's only rock'n'roll. And you may or may not like it. But few argue with the motives of Hard Rock Cafe owner Peter Morton, who will expand from the tourism and restaurant business into television production this month with an one-hour television special for an environmental cause.

Morton will open his famed, memorabilia-laden tourist attraction and restaurant, located on the west side of Beverly Center, to network television with a one-hour TV special called "The Hard Rock Cafe Presents Save The Planet."

Scheduled to air on CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  Television April 20 at 11:30 p.m., two days before the 20th anniversary of "Earth Day," the show will feature a performance by the Fine Young Cannibals Fine Young Cannibals were a British band best known for their 1989 hits "She Drives Me Crazy" and "Good Thing". They were formed in Birmingham, England, by vocalist Roland Gift and former The Beat members David Steele and Andy Cox.  -- though they may be touting vegetarianism vegetarianism, theory and practice of eating only fruits and vegetables, thus excluding animal flesh, fish, or fowl and often butter, eggs, and milk. Morton, who is on the board of directors of the Natural Resources Defense Council The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a New York City-based, non-profit non-partisan international environmental advocacy group, with offices in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Beijing. Founded in 1970, NRDC today has 1.  and the Earth Communications Office, will be an executive producer on this consciousness-raising gala, along with David Saltz and Joni Sighvatsson.

Morton says his show will offer "solutions to key environmental issues, while recognizing that the 1990s will require new ways of thinking and behaving in order to conquer the threats of the global environmental crisis."

He adds: "We can work together to restore health and harmony to the planet. Mobilized and motivated, each individual and each business can help make a difference in saving the planet."

This isn't just a quick lick and out for Morton. He's spent five years promoting the Save the Planet theme at his eight restaurants in Australia and the United States. The three-word Save the Planet ultimatum has been incorporated in the Hard Rock's logo. Cafe employees recycle all glass, cardboard, paper and aluminium. Take-out containers can be recycled. And, "until the tuna/dolphin issue is resolved," Hard Rock buys only line-caught fishes, says Morton.

Morton's Hard Rock Cafe at the Beverly Center is famous for the pink Cadillac seemingly crushed into the facade of the building. Rather than Cadillac crushing at home, the restaurateur turned producer recommends recycling newspapers, reducing fuel consumption and swathing swathe 1
