AN investigation is underway after a newborn baby was given an accidental drug overdose Drug Overdose Definition

A drug overdose is the accidental or intentional use of a drug or medicine in an amount that is higher than is normally used.

New mum Kayleigh Edgley was left 'devastated' after two-day-old Tyler was given a dose of meningitis meningitis (mĕnĭnjī`tĭs) or cerebrospinal meningitis (sĕr'əbrōspī`nəl), acute inflammation of the meninges, the membranes that cover and protect the brain and spinal cord.  medication too soon after the previous one at City Hospital in Nottingham.

Kayleigh, 21, from Bulwell, Nottinghamshire, said: "When I found out he had meningitis I just broke down and cried my eyes out.

"Then when I was told about the overdose I was really mad. I was really upset."

Nottingham University Hospitals has launched a probe into the case.
