Over 21? Halloween still rules.

From a public entertainment standpoint, Halloween is the best holiday. We'd go with New Year's Eve, but that is predictably Dec. 31 each year.

Sure, it wins points for having a night after a no-work day for most people, but when does anyone celebrate the new year with a five-day blowout?

That's what the older-than-21 set has the chance to do this year with the big Boo-day landing on a Tuesday.

As usual, Diablo's is leading the club pack, with Halloween events from today until Tuesday. For the slow or culturally isolated, Diablo means devil in Spanish, and the wicked and naughty sides of every Halloween reveler will be welcome at the downtown club. But beware! Diablo's Halloween events often sell out, so go early.

For those who haven't thought of what to dress up as yet, John Henry's has your solution; a Saturday night 1980s party. Who doesn't have the makings of an '80s Girl or '80s Boy outfit right there at home?

Or dress like Madonna or George Michael and bounce over to Snafu. Maybe you can convince the bouncer that those 1980s stars are your heroes so you can get into that club's superheroes party for no cover.

For those whose musical tastes lean on hip-hop for a good time, Taboo is hosting two nights of prizes, dancing and costumes Saturday and Tuesday. Special guests Allure will dance their interpretation of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" Tuesday at Taboo and Sunday at John Henry's.

And can anyone explain to us why almost every woman's costume calls for fake eyelashes? Dress like a cow? Fake eyelashes. A witch? Gotta have 'em. Pirate, Gypsy or mermaid? Yup.

It's interesting. Why aren't more of us fly like J-Lo, who wears them in everyday life? Maybe because our everyday lives don't involve red carpet appearances.

That's why we have Halloween. So fab it up and be safe.
