Over 2.25 Million Libyans have Registered to Vote.

, shows that 2,253,418 people have registered to vote in Libya.

The HNEC's statistics also show that 137 political bodies have registered with it along with 2,476 individual candidates, 1049 candidates from party lists and 310 voting lists.

It is expected that the number of registered voters will rise further during the remaining 6 days of extended registration as well as the number of candidates.

The HNEC also said that the first shipment of voting equipments and tools including special ink and voting booths had arrived in Tripoli Tripoli, city, Lebanon
Tripoli (trĭp`əlē) or Tarabulus (täräb`l
 on Wednesday from Belgium. Another shipment will also arrive soon.

Observers expect that the voting process in Libya will be smooth and peaceful as the government has undertaken the necessary measures to guarantee that such important turning point in Libyan history is fulfilled in a right manner.

He also said that a total of 500 candidates have submitted their candidacy to the country's electoral commission Electoral Commission

(1877) Commission created to resolve the disputed 1876 presidential election between Republican Rutherford B. Hayes and Democrat Samuel Tilden. Tilden had won the popular vote and was only one electoral vote short of victory, but the Republicans
 ahead of the June 19 polls.
