Ourominas Releases New Drill Results As Initial Phase Nears Completion.

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 1997--Ourominas Minerals Inc. (OMI - TSE,VSE) announced today new drill results on its wholly owned, 190,000 hectare Juruena Property in Mato Grosso, Brazil. The latest results are from seven holes, J27 through J33. The first phase drilling exploration program consisting of 40 holes, totalling 8,000 meters, is expected to be completed in the next week.

"When the results of this initial drill program are more fully assessed, we anticipate follow up drilling will continue in the Main Zone," said Ourominas President Geoffrey Carter. A summary of the recent drill information follows.

MAIN ZONE:

Drill hole J28, located on the south west side of the Crentes Pit (Map available by request), encountered gold mineralization but did not prove to be of economic interest.

Drill hole J30, located south east of Crentes, just under J9, indicated significant mineralization at 70 meters (m) and 90m. (See table below.) The results continued to show the down dip extension of the strong gold mineralization encountered in hole J9.

Drill hole J31 was drilled beneath J30 in order to test the Main Zone at depth. The hole encountered a broad, strong zone of gold mineralization. It contained numerous intervals of greater than 1 gram of gold per tonne (g/t) including one intersection of 4.7g/t.

Drill hole J32, located at the same site, investigated a strong gold geochemical soil anomaly and also encountered significant gold mineralization.

Drill hole J33, located further east along the Main Zone and just east of J30 and J31, encountered strong gold mineralization from 9.05-17.75m of greater than 2g/t. It also revealed an additional intersection of 1.98 meters grading almost 22g/t.

EAST ZONE:

Drill holes J27 and J29, located north of Capixaba 1 encountered gold bearing structures hydrothermal alteration but did not show any intersections of economic interest.
