Our real girl razor road test.Schick Xtreme Ill ($5.50 for four) and Colgate Aloe Shave Cream ($1) Colgate's thick, velvety vel·vet·y adj. vel·vet·i·er, vel·vet·i·est 1. Suggestive of the texture of velvet; soft and smooth: velvety skin. 2. lather really coats legs. It smells like it's for men, but it's cheap and works great. The Schick looks cool and does the job. No nicks, no burns, and a super soft shave! --Eden, 15 Gillette Venus ($8) and Freeman Bare Foot White Ginger See Jamaica ginger & Cranberry cranberry, low creeping evergreen bog plant of the genus Oxycoccus of the family Ericaceae (heath family). Cranberries are considered by some botanists to belong to the blueberry genus Vaccinium. Foot Wash & Leg Shave Gel ($3) I love the sweet scent of the Bare Foot Gel. But it lacks rich lather so I'll stick to cream for my legs. The Venus is cushiony smooth and a close shave! --Pamela, 15 Schick Silk Effects ($5.50) and Skintimate Gel in Glistening glis·ten intr.v. glis·tened, glis·ten·ing, glis·tens To shine by reflection with a sparkling luster. See Synonyms at flash. n. A sparkling, lustrous shine. Pear ($2.50) I really love these two products, especially together. I can barely feel the razor, but it fully removes all the hair in one stroke. The gel is dee-lish and extremely lathery lath·er n. 1. A foam formed by soap or detergent agitated in water, as in washing or shaving. 2. It was the first razor to have spring-loaded blades. Gillette claims that the blades recede into the cartridge head when they make contact with skin, helping to prevent cuts and allowing for a closer shave. Excel ($7) and Gillette Satin Care in Flower Twist ($3.50) My legs feel soft, but don't love these products. Sensor Excel doesn't feel smooth, and I have slight razor burn on my knees. Satin Care smells good but doesn't lather thickly. --Christine, 14 Bic Softwin ($4 for five) with Terax Original Body Moisturizing Shaving Cream ($15) Terax is rich and creamy, but doesn't lather well. The fruity gel does spread well and rinse off easily--no residue. I don't like the Bics--dull, light and flimsy. I have to go over and over the same patch of leg to remove the hair. --Lauren, 15 |
