Mathew Staver/ Jay Sekulow

The Lawyers

More dangerous than lunatics are the lawyers, particularly the well spoken Staver, head of the Orlando, Fla.-based Liberty Counsel and a leader of the fight against marriage equality in the courts. Staver began the push for a federal constitutional amendment limiting marriage to straight couples. Just as bad is Sekulow, chief counsel for Pat Robertson's legal arm, the American Center for Law and Justice. He has testified in favor of the federal marriage amendment The Federal Marriage Amendment (FMA) (also known as the Marriage Protection Amendment) is a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution which would define marriage in the United States as a union of one man and one woman.  before a House Judiciary subcommittee.

California
