He succeeds Bishop Gerald Wiesner of Prince George Prince George, city (1991 pop. 69,653), central British Columbia, Canada, at the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako rivers. The presidency alternates between English-and French-speaking bishops every two years with the vice-president automatically assuming the top office. Ms gr. Berthelet is bishop of Saint-Jean-Longueuil, a Montreal area diocese. The new vice-president is Archbishop Brendan O'Brien Brendan Michael O'Brien (born September 28, 1943) is a Canadian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He currently serves as Archbishop of Kingston, having previously served as Archbishop of Saint John's and Bishop of Pembroke.  of St. John's, Nfld.
