Marshall, indeed creates beautiful yet in-your-face, thought-provoking ideas about the perceptions--seen and undetected--about black culture in America. In a recent talk, he said "I have a taste for black folks." His predilection is evident in the bold paintings and installation works presented in his latest exhibit. The thin catalogue that accompanies the show does little justice to the large-scale, moving works of the actual show. As the exhibit travels, be sure to check it out.
