The giant panda isn't the only mammal threatened by habitat loss, urban sprawl, and poaching poaching: see cooking. . These factors are also the main killers of the following mammals:

The Florida Panthers are a professional ice hockey team based in the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida suburb of Sunrise. They are members of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Habitat: Swamps of southern Florida

Fact: Records show that of 59 documented Florida panther The Florida panther is a critically endangered representative of Cougar (Puma concolor) that lives in the low pinelands, palm forests and swamps of southern Florida in the United States.  deaths between 1979 and 1997, 25 were road-killed!

Habitat: Forests and swamps of northeast India and Nepal

Fact: Poachers prize the horn for traditional Asian medicine. It is believed that the horn can help cure fever and illnesses such as epilepsy, malaria, and even AIDS.

orangutans

Count: About 15,000

Habitat: Indonesian rain forests of Borneo and Sumatra in southeast Asia

Fact: Baby orangutans are sold as pets on the black market. Since a baby orangutan orangutan (ōrăng`tăn), an ape, Pongo pygmaeus, found in swampy coastal forests of Borneo and Sumatra.  clings to its mother for the first four years of life, poachers must kill the mom to get the baby.
