Oshman's Sporting Goods Inc. Selects JDA Software's MMS and Retail IDEAS.
Commenting on their selection of JDA Software, Skip Klug, vice president of MIS, stated, "We're replacing our outdated, in-house system with JDA's products to help us become a more profitable company. After the systems are live, we hope to increase profit margins and decrease out of stocks with better flow of merchandise to the stores."
Oshman's is just completing a major transformation entailing the closing of 170 traditional sporting goods stores and opening 36 interactive mega stores providing the customer with the opportunity to try the equipment before they buy it.
Klug added, "Now that we have much larger stores, we need to ensure that we're effectively managing our soft and hard lines and efficiently getting product to our stores to meet customer demand.
"JDA's systems are the best fit to help us do this because they will enable us to collect and analyze data at a detailed level and use such functionality as distribution, RF/Picking capabilities and allocation."

Oshman's is scheduled to go live with MMS by the first half of 1998 and plans to provide 100 users with access to the Retail IDEAS data warehouse for decision and action support by the end of 1998.
