Oshkosh Truck's Subsidiary, Pierce Manufacturing, to Build 39 Tactical Fire Fighting Trucks for $25 Million U.S. Army Contract.

Vehicles are integral to homeland defense capabilities

Oshkosh Truck Corporation (NYSE:OSK) announced today that its subsidiary, Pierce Manufacturing Inc., the leading North American manufacturer of custom fire apparatus, received an order from the U.S. Army for 39 Tactical Fire Fighting Trucks (TFFT). The contract is valued at approximately $25 million, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of fiscal 2004.

The TFFT is a joint development project between Oshkosh and its subsidiary, Pierce Manufacturing. The TFFT combines the extreme off-road mobility and combat-proven performance of the Oshkosh(R) HEMTT M977 with the advanced firefighting capabilities of industry-leading Pierce(R) fire apparatus. The trucks will be deployed worldwide for structural fire protection, wildland and brush firefighting, fuel and ammunition storage protection, aircraft rescue and rescue extrication in almost any terrain. The versatility of the multi-purpose TFFT is an important benefit in meeting the military's responsibilities for fire fighting missions in combat situations, as well as for homeland defense.
