PTC Global Services Organization Enabled Process Reengineering, Program Integration and Management

NEEDHAM, Mass. -- PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the Product Development Company([R]), today announced that Orizzonte Sistemi Navali (OSN), the Italian war ship system engineering company, has successfully deployed Windchill, PTC's powerful, web-based content and process management solution. OSN develops and delivers a wide range of combatant surface vessels including Corvettes, Frigates and Aircraft Carriers. OSN is currently using Windchill to support its core design, program management and change management processes. In the future, OSN expects to expand its use of Windchill to facilitate its component and supplier management process.

As a company created by and between Fincantieri and Finmeccanica, OSN has to manage a large number of parallel programs originating from two companies with different product development processes. In order to meet its business objectives, OSN needed to deploy an integral, web-based Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution supported by a world-class services organization to tightly control, document and manage the program integration and evolution in a secure environment.

OSN chose to implement PTC Windchill after conducting a competitive benchmark. PTC was selected because of its broad range of out-of-the-box capabilities for the majority of OSN business requirements. Last but not least, OSN liked PTC's proven track record with other customers in the aerospace and defense industry and the support provided by PTC's Global Services Organization.

PTC Global Services analyzed the existing product development processes and enabled the implementation of new processes for digital product data management integrating all external and internal program documents. PTC also helped OSN define and implement a formal change management process to better control changes during the lifecycle of each program. In the future, OSN expects to expand its use of Windchill to collaborate with its extended supply chain.
