Orion Retail announces construction project.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 1995--Mercantile Stores Company, Inc. announced today that it will construct a 110,000 square foot Castner Knott department store in Murfreesboro as part of the Stones River Mall in the area of the former Wal-Mart and an adjacent store. The department store will include a hair and nail salon.

Orion Retail, a division of Orion Building Corporation of Nashville, Tenn., will serve as general contractor on the project with construction beginning in May.

"We are fortunate to work with top-flight operations such as Mercantile Stores and Castner Knott. When this project is completed, Middle Tennesseans will have nine Castner Knott stores for their shopping convenience," said Cheryl Crosby Maddox, vice president of Orion Retail and the Castner Knott project manager.

Maddox has served as project manager on Gayfers projects at Tallahassee Mall in Tallahassee, Fla., and Panama City Mall in Panama City, Fla., and the Castner Knott stores at the Hickory Hollow Mall and Harding Mall in Nashville. She has also worked on various restoration projects at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., and at the Belle Meade Mansion in Nashville.

Other Orion Retail projects include Castner Knott stores at the Rivergate and Green Hills malls in Nashville and at Greenwood Mall in Bowling Green, Ky., and at Tower Records in Nashville. McAlpins of Lexington, Ky., and Gayfers of Montgomery, Ala. are also Orion Retail projects.

Orion Retail, with its focus on retail construction, was established in 1995 as a division of Orion Building Corporation, which has been in business for 12 years and has its headquarters in Nashville.
