Original work created for luxury upper west side.

Ed McGowin has created an original sculpture named "OPUS" to grace the exterior of a new luxury condominium project developed by The Clarett Group on Manhattan's historic Upper West Side. The dramatic frieze was recently unveiled in a private ceremony.

For more than four decades, McGowin has integrated different materials and techniques to explore contemporary issues while always maintaining the artistic sensibility shaped by his Southern roots. From his use of traditional materials such as paint and bronze, to his use of new technologies and unorthodox materials including vacuum-formed plastics, McGowin creates inspired works of art with a distinctive narrative style. A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Alabama where he earned a masters degree in fine art, McGowin's works have graced numerous cultural institutions both in the US and abroad. A selection of his most recent major public commissions include the New Mexico Monuments in Santa Rosa, NM (2004); the University of Iowa in Cedar Falls (2002); and the St. Marc Gate in Le Plan de Grasse, France (2001).

OPUS Condominiums is a new 64-unit luxury project located at 272 West 107th Street at Broadway. OPUS is the first premier-quality building in this family-oriented residential neighborhood to be developed in many years.
