Original casters of Popeye step forward.


Imagine our surprise upon flipping through the July 2003 issue of MODERN CASTING and finding the "Shakeout Shakeout

A situation in which many investors exit their positions, often at a loss, because of uncertainty or recent bad news circulating around a particular security or industry.

During the dotcom boom and bust, numerous shakeouts occurred.

 was the foundry commissioned by the town of Chester to cast this famous cartoon hero.

My father, Roland Eyermann, personally delivered the statue to the town of Chester and was proud to be a part of the unveiling. He has since passed on, but would have been very pleased to have the statue featured in your magazine. We are also proud to have several other art castings featured at the Missouri Botanical Gardens The Missouri Botanical Garden is a botanical garden located in St. Louis, Missouri, and is also known informally as "Shaw's Garden" (named for founder Henry Shaw, a botanist and philanthropist).  in St. Louis.

We were, however, unaware of the fact that Popeye was a foundryman in his early days. We are honored to be a part of immortalizing this colorful character.
