Oridion Medical Inc. Supplies Its Handheld Capnograph to Datex-Ohmeda.


DANVILLE, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Jan. 22, 1999--Oridion Medical Inc. has signed an agreement that allows Datex-Ohmeda to market and distribute Oridion's handheld capnograph in all U.S. markets.

Datex-Ohmeda, a global leader in anesthesia and critical care products, will sell the handheld device under its trade name QuickCap(tm).

The QuickCap handheld capnograph is engineered with Oridion Medical's innovative Microstream(tm) CO2 measuring technology, which results in highly accurate and reliable monitoring for all types of patients and clinical environments. QuickCap is also compatible with Oridion Medical's broad array of FilterLine(tm) circuits and accessories enabling it to monitor both intubated and nonintubated patients, from neonates to adults.

Capnography provides a noninvasive means for monitoring the level of carbon dioxide carbon dioxide, chemical compound, CO2, a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that is about one and one-half times as dense as air under ordinary conditions of temperature and pressure.  in exhaled breath (end-tidal CO2). Clinicians use this measurement to assess the respiratory status of patients in a growing variety of clinical situations, including emergency medical care, procedural sedations, intensive care and neonatal neonatal /neo·na·tal/ (ne?o-nat´'l) pertaining to the first four weeks after birth.
