Water Agencies (ACWA ACWA Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America ACWA Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives ACWA Administrative Careers With America ACWA Assembled Chemical Weapons Assessment ACWA American Civil War Association ACWA American Clean Water Association ) and California Business Properties Association (CBPA CBPA College of Business and Public Administration CBPA College of Business Public Administration CBPA California Business Properties Association CBPA Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act CBPA College of Business and Public Affairs CBPA Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area ) today called on Republican legislators to support a $5.4 billion bond measure that would fund critical investments in the state's water supply and flood control systems. In a letter to Republican members of the Senate and Assembly, the organizations cited numerous reasons for legislators to support Proposition 84 on the November 7 ballot. The measure, known as the Clean Water, Parks and Coastal Protection Bond of 2006, was developed with input from the statewide water community and would help ensure the availability of safe drinking water drinking water supply of water available to animals for drinking supplied via nipples, in troughs, dams, ponds and larger natural water sources; an insufficient supply leads to dehydration; it can be the source of infection, e.g. leptospirosis, salmonellosis, or of poisoning, e.g. , improve local water supply reliability and statewide water planning, strengthen flood protection and preserve California's natural landscapes. Rex Hime, President and Chief Executive Officer of CBPA, noted that Proposition 84 would fund strategic and responsible investments in our water supply system, without raising taxes or unduly adding to the state's bonded indebtedness INDEBTEDNESS. "This measure mandates fiscal responsibility," Hime said. "Key Republican constituencies have all endorsed Proposition 84, including agriculture, business, water and local government interests." ACWA's Board of Directors voted in July to support Proposition 84, which qualified for the ballot through the initiative process. The $5.4 billion bond measure would fund an array of water- and resources-related projects around the state, as well as coastal protection, forest and wildlife conservation and parks. ACWA's support for the measure reflects a comprehensive analysis of the bond initiative and the potential funding it would provide for ACWA members to carry out critical programs. If approved by voters, the initiative would provide funding for virtually every one of the 12 actions outlined in ACWA's comprehensive water policy document, "No Time to Waste: A Blueprint blueprint, white-on-blue photographic print, commonly of a working drawing used during building or manufacturing. The plan is first drawn to scale on a special paper or tracing cloth through which light can penetrate. for California Water" released in 2005. ACWA is a statewide association of public agencies whose 440 members are responsible for about 90% of the water delivered in California. For more information, visit www.acwa.com.
