Heather Meyers had nine kills and Sonja Newcombe added eight Tuesday as Oregon swept Portland 30-22, 30-20, 30-11 in nonconference women's volleyball volleyball, outdoor or indoor ball and net game played on a level court. It's the third time Oregon has won 10 straight matches, having done it last year and 1984.

The Ducks have opened the season with 10 three-game sweeps, pushing the active record for consecutive games won to 30.

Meyers and Newcombe helped the Ducks to a .329 hitting percentage. They also each had two service aces.

Nevena Djordjevic had a season-high 31 assists and Katie Swoboda 10 digs as the Ducks remained perfect on the season.

Karen Waddington, Kristen Forristall and Neticia Enesi each had three blocks as the Ducks finished with 14.

Oregon held the Pilots' attack to a minus-.060 attacking percentage, the best mark for the Ducks this season and marking the sixth time an Oregon opponent has been held under .100 hitting percentage.

Ashley Grayson had nine kills for Portand.

Oregon plays 20th-ranked Ohio State on Saturday in the tournament.

Beavers roll Fresno State for fourth straight win

FRESNO, Calif. - Bree Knitter served up 16 consecutive points during a 17-0 run in the second game Tuesday as Oregon State defeated Fresno State 30-19, 30-16, 30-20 in nonconference women's volleyball.

Knitter had two aces as the Beavers (7-3) won their fourth straight.

Rachel Rourke had 18 kills and Kristin Murray 11 to lead the Beavers. Ashley Evans had 16 digs.
