Oregon Update.

Byline: The Register-Guard

ONE ON ONE: Oregon's Keenan Howry and USC's Kareem Kelly will both be seeking the same Pac-10 record Saturday, for consecutive games with at least one reception. Howry and Kelly currently share the conference mark with Arizona's Dennis Northcutt (1996-99) at 42 consecutive games, and not too far away is the NCAA record of 46 consecutive games with a reception, set by Carl Winston of New Mexico (1990-93).

Kelly and Howry, both seniors, are also closing in on school records for receptions. Kelly has 184, with the USC record at 201 by Johnnie Morton (1990-93), while Howry is at 150, with the UO record 162 by Cristin McLemore (1992-95). Both Oregon and USC have five regular-season games remaining.

UP FOR A TROPHY: USC quarterback Carson Palmer was named Wednesday as one of the five finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, presented to the nation's top senior quarterback. The other finalists are Ken Dorsey of Miami, Byron Leftwich of Marshall, Seneca Wallace of Iowa State and Dave Ragone of Louisville.

Palmer has passed for 1,981 yards and 13 touchdowns while completing 164-of-272 passes for the Trojans. Palmer is third in the Pac-10 in total offense and ninth in the pass efficiency rating.

NEXT GAME: Saturday against USC at Autzen Stadium at 12:30 p.m. TV: Live by ABC; delayed on Oregon Sports Network at 11:30 p.m.
