Oregon Classic pays off for charities.

Officials of the Oregon Classic held annually at Shadow Hills Country Club in Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  announced Thursday that last year's professional golf tournament generated more than $90,000 for Kidsports and other local charities.

The amount, consistent with proceeds announced in past years, brings the total amount generated by the tournament to more than $435,000. Most of that money, an estimated $300,000, has been designated for an endowed fund that provides scholarships for youths from low-income families to take part in Kidsports activities, according to according to

Also Thursday, the Oregon Classic donated more than 5,000 golf balls to local high school golf teams. The golf balls were used on the practice range by golfers who participated in last year's tournament.

This year, the Oregon Classic is now a stop on the Nationwide Tour - formerly, it was the Buy.com Tour and before that the Nike Tour - under the auspices of the PGA Tour The PGA Tour is an organization that operates the USA's main professional golf tours. It is headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA. Its name is officially rendered in all caps as “PGA TOUR". . The 2003 Oregon Classic, primarily sponsored by Kendall Auto Group, will be played Sept. 11-14.

CORVALLIS - Running back Steven Jackson and swimmer Birte Steven were selected Oregon State University's male and female athletes of the year at the annual Bennys Awards.

In addition, the Martin Chaves Lifetime Achievement Award Benny was presented to former football coach and athletic director Dee Andros, and former Sheldon High School Sheldon High School may refer to:

Among the other honors, team of the year Bennys were awarded to the Beaver men's soccer and women's gymnastics programs; men's soccer coach Dana Taylor and softball coach Kirk Walker were named coaches of the year; and the late Joe Zaher of the men's soccer team and Chrissy Lamun of the gymnastics teams were selected newcomers of the year.

Oregon State University athletics director Bob DeCarolis will be one of two Pac-10 Conference vice presidents for 2003-04.

Jerry Kingston of Arizona State has been named president, and Stanford's Debra Gore-Mann will join DeCarolis as a vice president.

Oregon State women's rower Julia White-Hoppe has been named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association all-America first team.

The junior from South Medford High, the first OSU rower to earn first-team all-America honors, was also named first-team all-Pac 10 on Thursday.

SISTERS - Bob Rannow of Sandpines Golf Links in Florence shot a 69 for a one-stroke victory Thursday in an Oregon Chapter PGA (1) (Professional Graphics Adapter) An early IBM PC display standard for 3D processing with 640x480x256 resolution. It was not widely used.
