Primarily a summer resort, it was once a gold-mining boomtown. Venture at Ester, Alaska Ester is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska, United States. It is part of the 'Fairbanks, Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area'. At the time of the 2000 census, the population was 1,680. has begun 1997's production of gold. This start of production was sixty-nine (69) days earlier than the inaugural 1996 season. The Venture is the first placer gold mine in Alaska processing ore in the 1997 season. Several improvements and enhancements were made to the Process Plant which after one week's operational results shows an increase in daily capacity from 1996 of over twenty-percent (20 percent) to in excess of 4,300 bank cubic yards. The second Processing Plant which was recently acquired for the mine is currently undergoing some site-specific modifications in Anchorage Anchorage (ăng`kərĭj), city (1990 pop. 226,338), Anchorage census div., S central Alaska, a port at the head of Cook Inlet; inc. 1920. and will be moved to Ester and erected in May with a projected commissioning date of June 1, 1997. The addition of this plant will double process capacity thereby allowing the Venture in concert with the early start of production this spring to increase 1997 gold recovery by a magnitude of in excess of four-hundred percent (400 percent) from 1996's profitable operation. The Cripple Creek Venture is a partnership between Exploration Orbite VSPA Inc. and Yellow Eagle Mining Inc. which is producing gold and silver from their Cripple Creek no. 4 Mine.
