Orbit International Receives a Follow-on Award in Excess of $980,000 to Support the FAA Automated Radar Terminal System.


HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. -- Orbit International Corp. (Nasdaq:ORBT), an electronics manufacturer and supplier, today announced that its Electronics Group has received orders valued in excess of $980,000 from a leading electronics prime contractor for its Human-Man Interface (HMI (Human Machine Interface) The user interface in a manufacturing or process control system. It provides a graphics-based visualization of an industrial control and monitoring system. ) trackball A stationary pointing device that contains a movable ball rotated with the fingers or palm. From one to three keys are located in various positions depending on the unit. Years ago, Kensington Microware popularized the trackball with its Turbo Mouse for the Macintosh.  in support of the Federal Aviation Administration's Automated Radar Terminal System (ARTS-III-E). Deliveries under this contract are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2007 and continue at an accelerated rate through year-end.

The original ARTS I FAA program requirement was also designed and installed by this prime contractor in 1964 at Atlanta's air traffic facility, and at that time, set the standard as the newest and most advanced commercial airport radar air traffic control system. Since then, Orbit's Electronics Group has delivered in excess of 2000 HMI devices, supporting approximately 150 small-to-medium-sized as well a up to five large Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON TRACON Traffic Control

) facilities. Orbit has been informed that the current HMI order will support the ARTS III-E program requirements in Dallas/Fort Worth, New York Worth is a town in Jefferson County, New York, United States.
