Orbit International Corp. Receives New Contract Awards Valued at Approximately $530,000.


Company Expects Additional Options as FMS FMS - Flexible Manufacturing System (factory automation).  Program Opportunities Expand

Company Also Reports 11.6% Increase in 2006 Year-End Backlog from Prior Year

: ORBT), an electronics manufacturer and supplier, today announced that its Electronics Group has received fixed contract awards from a leading defense prime contractor valued at approximately $530,000 to procure Cockpit Mission console equipment in support of the P-3 Maritime Patrol Maritime patrol is the task of monitoring areas of water. Generally conducted by military and law enforcement agencies, maritime patrol is usually aimed at identifying human activities.  Aircraft program for Foreign Military Sales That portion of United States security assistance authorized by the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, and the Arms Export Control Act of 1976, as amended. This assistance differs from the Military Assistance Program and the International Military Education and Training Program  (FMS) requirements. Deliveries under these contracts are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2007 and continue through the second quarter of 2007.

In addition, the Company also announced that its year end backlog at December 31, 2006 was approximately $14.7 million compared to approximately $13.1 million from December 31, 2005, an increase of 11.6%.

Orbit's involvement in this program commenced in March 2006 when its customer received a contract from the Swedish Coast Guard The Swedish Coast Guard (Swedish: Kustbevakningen) is a Swedish civilian government agency tasked with:
  • maritime surveillance and other control and inspection tasks as well as environmental cleanup after oil spills at sea
 to update their DeHavaland P-3 aircraft with enhanced submarine surveillance equipment which included the Company's keypads and display monitors. All hardware under that order has been delivered. In addition, a second contract was finalized in 2006 by Orbit's customer with the New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland.  Air Force in support of the P-3 Lot II upgrade program under which Orbit designed, manufactured and delivered cursor control trackballs, cockpit displays, keyboards, flight keypads, as well as ruggedized displays to support aircraft operators with critical real time information on each display.

This latest contract was received after Orbit's customer completed final negotiations with the Korean Air Force Korean air force may refer too:
  • Korean People's Army Air Force, Air Force of North Korea
  • Republic of Korea Air Force, Air Force of South Korea
 to design and deliver Rugged Flight Devices and Tactical Entry Devices to support the Korean P-3 Lot II Program.

Dennis Sunshine, President and Chief Executive Officer commented, "The P-3 program has generated a significant revenue stream for our Electronics Group in support of U.S. Air Force and Foreign Military Upgrade programs which should continue as foreign military customers elect to upgrade their P-3 surveillance aircraft with latest state-of-the-art hardware."
