Orange County Probation and Jacada Implement an Integrated User Interface to Manage Juvenile Offender Rehabilitation.

Jacada Ltd.(NASDAQ: JCDA), a leading provider of e-business infrastructure software, today announced that the Orange County, California Probation Department has successfully developed an integrated user-interface for its disparate computing systems.

Using Jacada to extend legacy Case Management System (CMS) to a secure Intranet and then integrate this functionality with other systems at the interface level, Orange County Probation is supplying department personnel with consolidated access to critical information.

In total, the Probation Department operates over 25 facilities, which are responsible for various functions, and employs approximately 1700 county workers, who are responsible for the physical, emotional, and sociological assessment of juvenile offenders. Orange County utilizes the CMS to determine the best possible location for an offender to be housed based on these assessments, current occupancy levels, and the type of treatment offered by each facility.

The new system, dubbed the Institutional Management System (IMS) is comprised of five disparate applications and is designed to be a one-stop shop for department personnel who manage the daily activities of juvenile offenders in the care and custody of the county. The new interface consolidates the CMS with a Notes application to allow for free form text within the IMS, a spell-check tool that promotes accurate data entry, and bar coding software that is used to scan offenders as they are transferred between facilities. Additionally, using the Jacada interface, probation officers now access a Sequel server database that houses department photographs of juvenile offenders. The new system provides a common method of assessing individual offenders and tracking their movements to and from the department's facilities.
