Oracle Corporation President Charles Phillips to Be Honored by New York Law School's Black Law Students Association.NEW YORK -- Charles Phillips, president of Oracle Corporation, will be honored by New York Law School's chapter of the Black Law Students Association at its annual alumni banquet on Friday, April 29, 2005. Phillips will also be the keynote speaker at the dinner, which will take place at New York Law School History New York Law School is one of the oldest independent law schools in the United States. The Law School was founded in 1891 by a group of faculty, students, and alumni of Columbia Law School led by their founding dean, Theodore William Dwight, a prominent figure in the . Media coverage is invited. Phillips earned his law degree from New York Law School in 1993 and currently serves as a trustee of the school. At Oracle, where he also sits on the Board of Directors, he is responsible for global field operations including consulting, marketing, sales, alliances and channels, and customer programs, as well as corporate strategy. He has been instrumental in guiding Oracle's highly publicized takeover of PeopleSoft. Prior to joining Oracle, Phillips was a managing director with Morgan Stanley in its technology group. The idea for the Foundation came in 1987 during discussions about royalties with entertainer Ruth Brown, . Phillips has worked on several local, state, and national political campaigns, from city council to presidential races. Phillips earned his undergraduate degree in computer science from the United States Air Force Academy United States Air Force Academy, at Colorado Springs, Colo.; for training young men and women to be officers in the U.S. air force; authorized in 1954 by Congress. in 1981 and his M.B.A. from Hampton University in 1986, prior to attending law school.
