Booth #1959

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2004

Developing perception-based quality assessment test and measurement tools, Optimum Holding Inc. (Optimum), today unveiled its Q-Master(TM) quality test and measurement analyzer. The Q-Master solution is designed for telecommunications development engineers within System OEMs that need a flexible and cost-effective solution to test, measure and analyze the voice, audio and video quality generated and received by their multimedia products. A tool for development environments, the Q-Master system uses ITU (International Telecommunication Union, Geneva, Switzerland, www.itu.ch) A telecommunications standards body that is under the auspices of the United Nations. Comprising more than 185 member countries, the ITU sets standards for global telecom networks.  standard perceptual analysis to generate a Mean Opinion Score (MOS (1) (Metal Oxide Semiconductor) See MOSFET.

, echo-cancellers, transcoders, gateways, telephones and other types of voice, audio and video networking equipment.

"The use of standard ITU perceptual measurement algorithms enables System OEMs to test, measure and analyze the quality of the multimedia produced by their products from the end-users perspective," said Aart Konynenberg, Vice President of Optimum. "This unique measurement approach combined with Q-Master's flexibility and Microsoft Windows(R)-based user interface sets a new standard for quality test and measurement analyzers."

Today, equipment designers are under tremendous pressure to create components that deliver high-quality voice, audio and video services. It is critical that these developers have modular, flexible and easy-to-use test equipment that enables them to clearly understand how their components are performing. Q-Master is a comprehensive tool that enables designers to quickly and easily measure the voice, audio and video quality produced by their equipment.

Q-Master is unique in that it uses ITU standardized perceptual algorithms including ITU-T See ITU.

Once only an analog system, the heart of most telephone networks today is all digital. In the U.S.  and wireless. The system has two main components - an I/O interface unit and a Windows-based test and measurement application. The interface unit is easily portable and can be configured for multiple technologies including POTS, analog audio, VoIP and others. The software application will run on any Windows-based PC and communicates with the interface unit through USB USB

Q-Master is a comprehensive test instrument with an extensive set of measurement parameters to properly assess multimedia quality. Some of the parameters include MOS scoring, MOS speech only, MOS background only, time delay, E-factor, MOS vs time, spectrum view of signal, and many others. Additional algorithms will soon be available for DTMF (Dual-Tone MultiFrequency) The type of audio signals that are generated when you press the buttons on a touch-tone telephone. See also DMTF.
