:OPMRF) announced today that its U-Scan Express(TM) automated self-service checkout system was named one of the top ten new products of the year at Scan-Tech 1996 held in Chicago recently.

U-Scan Express(TM) was selected because, unlike other self-check out systems, the U-Scan Express(TM) "has the look-and-feel of an ATM machine (Automatic Teller Machine machine) A banking terminal that accepts deposits and dispenses cash. Shaw's, along with sister store, Star Market, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based Supervalu.
 Inc., and the Star Markets Company, Inc. and is to be installed in several retailers in the coming months. The U-Scan Express(TM) System has already attained a 7 percent penetration of the Louisville division of the Kroger Company, U-Scan's first major user, since the first installation in October 1995.
