CCTV programming is dedicated to reporting global and domestic news as well as supporting Chinese commerce. The Napa Valley station takes this content, and combines it with local advertising. The advertising content is digitized using the Optibase MPEG (Moving Pictures Experts Group) An ISO/ITU standard for compressing digital video. Due to strict programming guidelines, the content must be monitored and stored. To do this, the broadcasted data is encoded into MPEG-4 format using the Optibase MPEG MovieMaker 400. This data is streamed back to CCTV in China for monitoring and also stored for 90-days per US regulations.
