Oprah meets the lesbians.

Partners Nikki Weiss (above, center) and Carole Antouri (left) received a flood of positive feedback after appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show October 2 during a show about women who leave their husbands for other women. But a segment on MSNBC's Scarborough Country on October 3 was a dramatic exception to the praise. Under the direction of conservative anchor Joe Scarborough, two journalists from Us Weekly and The Star plus notorious gay-hater Jennifer Giroux from Citizens for Community Values had a field day criticizing the couple, gays in general, and Winfrey herself. "Giroux's blanket statement that it's abusive if you have children and are gay really is what put me over the edge," Weiss tells The Advocate [for the complete interview, go to Advocate.com]. Says Antouri of her critics: "They're just uneducated. I felt sorry for them. I thought, Wow, they're very isolated. Do they not get out?"
