OpenForum Europe calls for UK support of EC announcement. (IT News).


The European Commission European Commission, branch of the governing body of the European Union (EU) invested with executive and some legislative powers. Located in Brussels, Belgium, it was founded in 1967 when the three treaty organizations comprising what was then the European Community  have published an independent study into the pooling of Open Source Software by European administrations and declared they should share software on an open source licensing basis, to cut soaring egoverment information technology costs (set to rise by 28% to C 6.6 billion this year) They also recommended `creating a clearing house to which administrations could "donate" software for re-use. This facility, which would concentrate on applications specific to the needs of the public sector, could encourage the replication In database management, the ability to keep distributed databases synchronized by routinely copying the entire database or subsets of the database to other servers in the network.
