 between all members of the SystemC community, while providing detailed technical and educational information for those interested in learning more about SystemC. "A primary responsibility of OSCI is to develop consensus within the SystemC community and to foster a healthy industry ecosystem," said Meredith. "We now have a modern, interactive website that will bring forth the best that the community has to offer in SystemC collaboration and advancement."

OSCI membership has risen 30% in the past year, and user groups in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. , Europe, Asia/Japan, South America South America, fourth largest continent (1991 est. pop. 299,150,000), c.6,880,000 sq mi (17,819,000 sq km), the southern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. , and India are thriving according to the group's recent survey, SystemC Users Group Survey Data Trends Report, April 2007, available on the website.

Website Features

New and improved features of the site are designed to enhance user experience as well as to strengthen the ties and further open the lines of communication between all members of the SystemC ecosystem. These include:

SystemC Community (open to the public):

* Link to the free download of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  1666-2005 Language Reference Manual

* Downloads of open source OSCI standards and publicly available drafts

* User Group Network

* OSCI and SystemC community news

* Event listings

* Newsletter (opt-in)

* Free downloads of papers and articles

* Discussion forums

Organizational (open to members):

Participation in the technical working groups is the primary way that progress is made in the definition and advancement of the SystemC language. Organizational features of the site have been streamlined to help facilitate technical collaboration and information exchange among technical working groups, as well as OSCI members and associated groups. In addition, OSCI member news and media coverage have been restructured to provide up to date news about SystemC.

"The initial SystemC.org site served its purpose by acting as an information source for SystemC, but the momentum for a new website has been building for quite some time," said OSCI board member, Mark Glasser, who headed up the website effort. "With ongoing development by OSCI working groups on transaction-level modeling Transaction-level modeling (TLM) is a high-level approach to modeling digital systems where details of communication among modules are separated from the details of the implementation of functional units or of the communication architecture.  and other standards, the new site provides the collaborative environment that can do much to evolve SystemC innovation and standards."

Making the Most out of SystemC.org

While the new website is open and available to the public, access to some downloads and areas within the site are restricted. To get the most benefit from the site, OSCI encourages visitors to register and login Signing in and gaining access to a network server, Web server or other computer system.
