(the "Company"/"Opawica") announces the following proposed 1996 exploration program on the 375 sq km Asankrangwa and 1,500 sq km Enchi-Wiawso reconnaissance licenses located in southwest Ghana. The Asankrangwa and Enchi-Wiawso licenses are subject to an option agreement whereby Golden Shamrock shamrock, a plant with leaves composed of three leaflets. According to legend it was used by St. Patrick in explaining the doctrine of the Trinity; it is now used as the emblem of Ireland. An artificial or real shamrock leaf is customarily worn on St. Patrick's Day. Mines Ltd. GSML is an international gold and copper producer. In Ghana, GSML produces 130,000 ozs. of gold per year from the Iduapriem gold mine, located approximately 75 kms southeast of Opawica's Asankrangwa license. The proposed 1996 program on Asankrangwa (100 percent Opawica), which has been initiated, will concentrate on in-fill soil sampling on an extensive anomalous gold zone, outlined in mid 1995, which is associated with three sub-parallel northeast southwest trending structural features. In addition, trenching plus rotary air blast ("RAB Rab (räb), Ital. Arbe, island (1991 pop. 9,205), 40 sq mi (104 sq km) off Croatia, in the Adriatic Sea. One of the Dalmatian islands, it is a popular seaside resort. Fishing and agriculture are the main occupations. ") geochemical drilling and follow-up reverse circulation drilling of RAB anomalies as well as bedrock targets is scheduled. This phase of work on Asankrangwa is focused on an area of approximately 6 sq kms and is expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 1996 under a Prospecting License which is in progress of being filed. The 369 sq km balance of the Asankrangwa license will be subject to combined aeromagnetics aer·o·mag·net·ics n. (used with a sing. verb) The science of magnetic characteristics associated with atmospheric conditions. aer , radiometrics and geochemical soil sampling during 1996 with the objective of identifying further targets. The Enchi-Wiawso (100 percent Opawica) license covers an 85 km section of the Bibiani gold belt between IGR's (TSE) 4,000,000 ounce (past and present resources) Bibiani deposit and Eden Roc's (TSE) producing, 1,200,000 ounce resource, Aniuri mine in Cote d'Ivoire. Opawica's Enchi-Wiawso license averages 20 kms in width over the 85 kms of prospective strike length. Surface geochemical soil sampling in a 100 sq km area of the northeast region of the 1,500 sq km Enchi-Wiawso license, completed in 1995, provided low and inconclusive gold results. In 1996 a reconnaissance stream sediment geochemical sampling program targeted on structural zones defined from geophysics geophysics, study of the structure, composition, and dynamic changes of the earth, its atmosphere, hydrosphere and magnetosphere, based on the principles of physics. will be conducted on Enchi-Wiawso. Furthermore, continuation of reconnaissance soil sampling over the Bibani-Aniuri trend will extend to targets outlined from the stream sediment sampling, aeromagnetics and radiometrics. The 1996 work program on both the Asankrangwa and Enchi-Wiawso licenses will entail in excess of CDN $700,000 of exploration. CONTACT: D.M.R. (Dan) Clark President (416) 597-1480 |
