Ontario reviews arbitrations on women and vulnerable people.


TORONTO -- Contentions of women's groups over plans to establish traditional Islamic courts The term Islamic court or Islamic courts can mean:
  • a court that follows Islamic Sharia law
  • the Islamic Courts Union in Somalia
 in Ontario has caused Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Women's Issues to review processes under the Arbitration Act and other private dispute resolution processes in the province. The review has been enlarged to consider the safeguards afforded to vulnerable individuals in private arbitrations.
