, Ontario's Youth Services Minister Dr. Marie Bountrogianni Marie Bountrogianni BA, MEd, D.Ed (born December 10, 1956) is a politician in Ontario, Canada. She is currently a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, and is a cabinet minister in the government of Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty.  announced that the provincial government has eliminated all fees for intercountry adoptions.

In 2000, the provincial government began collecting a fee of $460 for international adoptions International adoption, or intercountry adoption, is a type of adoption in which an individual or couple becomes the legal and permanent parents of a child born in another country.  involving relatives and $925 for non-relatives under the Intercountry Adoption Act. The fee has now been cancelled.

"This government's intention has always been to eliminate the processing fee for international adoptions."

Most provincial governments charge fees for intercountry adoptions.
