Ontario finds no appreciable benefit from privatized prison.


Ontario had "no appreciable benefit" from the private operation of a correctional facility, Community Safety and Correctional Services Minister Monte Kwinter Monte Kwinter (born March 22, 1931 in Toronto, Ontario) is a politician in Ontario, Canada. The province created a pilot project to compare the performance of the Central North facility with the publicly operated Central East Correctional Centre in Kawartha Lakes Kawartha Lakes (kəwôr`thə), group of 14 lakes, in a region c.50 mi (80 km) long and c.25 mi (40 km) wide, S Ont., Canada, near the towns of Lindsay and Peterborough. Balsam is the largest lake. They are popular as summer resorts. . The two facilities are the same in size and design, including 1,184-bed multi-purpose correctional facilities, and a 32-bed female unit. Both facilities are maximum security institutions.
