Onset Therapeutics Features Three Scientific Posters at ASWC on Recently Launched OPTASE(TM), a Novel Wound Care Gel.

) held September 28-30, 2006 in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

OPTASE[TM] GEL (Trypsin trypsin, enzyme that acts to degrade protein; it is often referred to as a proteolytic enzyme, or proteinase. Trypsin is one of the three principal digestive proteinases, the other two being pepsin and chymotrypsin. , Balsam balsam (bôl`səm), fragrant resin obtained from various trees. The true balsams are semisolid and insoluble in water, but they are soluble in alcohol and partly so in hydrocarbons.  Peru, Castor Oil) is a wound care product formulated in a patent pending Gel delivery system for topical application on a wide variety of wounds. , CWCN CWCN Certified Wound Care Nurse , FAPWCA presented a poster entitled "Treatment of Stage I and II Pressure Ulcers with a Novel Balsam Peru, Castor Oil and Trypsin Formulation" that described a case study in which OPTASE[TM] GEL was used to successfully treat a recurrent stage II pressure ulcer that had failed to respond to previous wound treatments in a home based care setting.

 Wound Treatments to Prevent Transepidermal Water-loss (TEWL TEWL Transepidermal Water Loss (skin barrier property) ) and Wound Contamination". This poster detailed the results of a clinical study and a series of in vitro models comparing the effectiveness of two different formulations of Balsam Peru, Castor Oil, Trypsin (BCT) wound treatments, OPTASE[TM] GEL and XENADERM[R] OINTMENT (Healthpoint LTD LTD 1 Laron-type dwarfism 2 Leukotriene D 3 Long-term depression, see there 4. Long-term disability ) to act as a barrier to TEWL, as well as a barrier to external contaminants that were introduced to the in vitro models.

Mark W. Trumbore Ph.D also presented a poster entitled "Development of a Rodent Model for Evaluating BCT Wound Treatment Efficacy" that described the development and use of a rodent wound model for comparing the efficacy of BCT wound care treatments. The study compared the healing of wounds treated with either OPTASE[TM] GEL, GRANULEX[R] SPRAY (Mylan Bertek), XENADERM[R] OINTMENT or saline.
