Roy said: "In a quote from the article at the time a council spokesman said selling the land would bring major benefits to the community. He said that on top of the purchase price, the developer would contribute pounds 115,000 for a new classroom at Lingfield School, pounds 100,000 towards a pedestrian crossing at Stainton Way, pounds 80,000 for improvements to the Marton West Beck Valley Nature Reserve and pounds 30,000 for improvements to play facilities at the Pastures Estate.
But isn't that tantamount to bribery or financial coercion? What's more, the 'carrots' being proffered are all things the council should be providing already out of our Council Tax!"
On TS9 Christmas wishes were posted from Down Under.
"Good morning to you from Cooks Cottage in Melbourne. On behalf of us here in Melbourne I would like to wish the people in your parish a safe and merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Also, I hope that your Carols are enjoyed by all. Very kindly, Peter Morgan Curator Cooks Cottage."
On TS14 Poppy McGee read an article on an animal rescue service needing help.
She said: "I looked in the newspaper and saw that Tiny Paws need help so me and my two friends now do sponsors every year. Tiny Paws are really caring for animals but they need help."
On TS23 a letter was posted following an attack on a young Billingham man in Middlesbrough.
It said: "It is irrelevant that he was only 17, obviously he is going to regret being at 'the wrong place at the wrong time' for the rest of his life, with having to have surgery and metal supports inserted into his face! What else was he hoping to achieve when he set about his assault? That is what is wrong with our society, there is always someone else to blame! The only person to blame here is the person responsible for this vicious attack."
